Mobility: Psoas . . opening the hips, relieving lower back pain

What the Psoas?

  • Attaches at the bottom of the thoracic spine (T12), along the lumbar spine (through L4), through the pelvic bowl, over the hip joint, and attaches to the femur (thigh bone).
  • Known as a hip flexor – brings the trunk and leg close together.
  • Stabilizes your posture.
  • Assists in straightening the lumbar (lower) spine.

  1. How do you increase my flexibility for the snatch? My flexibility is so poor (genetically) and I stretch my gluts, hip flexors, and crotch and everyday it's the same, it doesn't really get better, if I don't stretch for a day then it goes back...I've been lifting for over 2 months now and I don't know what works the most? should I hold the squat position for like 3 mins? hold everything for 3 mins or more??
